Jacob’s Court - a Palo Alto vest-pocket neighborhood
A delicate balance between the randomness of nature and the order of urban design was required to fit nineteen homes on a deep, narrow cul-de-sac while saving a dozen specimen trees.
The happy result: a vest-pocket neighborhood that pays homage to Palo Alto’s architectural heritage, a suburban settlement where the car is not king, a high-density community where buildings are unified with airy windows and varied by impressive towers. Even at fifteen units per acre, these townhomes still offer amenities typically associated only with single-family homes. Jacobs Court was completed in 1993.
